Alva Baker
Chief Executive OfficerWith nearly four decades of management consulting experience, Alva Baker is recognized for her ability to communicate with all types of stakeholders from organization leaders to neighborhood residents, corporate executives to small business owners, elected officials to members of the faith community. Alva is the CEO of Baker Consulting Associates, LLC, a leading global consulting practice active in Dallas, New York and San Antonio. Their extensive track record of success led to BCA winning the assignment for the Road-to-Work Opportunity Program by the North Central Texas Council of Governments and the Texas Department of Transportation. RTWOP represents a huge step forward in workforce placement for communities of color in the Dallas region and BCA is a leading partner in that effort. Her broad experience has included such diverse clients as Bank of America, Center for Nonprofit Management, Dallas Area Rapid Transit, NationsBanc CDC, InnerCity Community Development Corporation, Texas Department of Transportation, Comerica Bank, and the City of Dallas. A 1987 graduate of Leadership Dallas, Alva holds an MBA from the University of Southern California. Previously, she held executive positions at Citibank (Vice President, Cash Management Consulting) and at Atlantic Richfield Company (Senior Financial Analyst). Alva is a frequent speaker at community events, government hearings, and professional organizations. She is very invested in her local community having served as PTA President for the Irma Rangel Young Women’s Leadership School and chair of the South Dallas/Fair Park Trust Fund. She has served on the boards of the United Way of Metropolitan Dallas, YWCA, Dallas Ballet, the Dallas Women’s Foundation, Junior League of Dallas, Mayor’s Permanent Supportive Housing Task Force. She is an active member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church.
